Saturday 19 November 2016
Saturday - Not much to say.  Did a bit of work around the house, stuff like that.

I watched Indie Game : The Movie over at R&S's in the evening.  Very interesting, to me anyway, as it chronicles the events in the lives of several small teams of game developers - very similar to what S and myself are experiencing.  Hopefully we'll end up making beaucoup $$, like the protagonists of the documentary...

Friday 18 November 2016
Friday - Worked on the app a bit, completing some punchlist items, UX stuff for the most part.

I'm not happy with the performance of some things, but the general trend is better.  I tried to autoplay a little splash video S made, and it doesn't work for some reason.  I'd tried this some time ago, but there were more urgent items that needed my attention, but now I need to start focusing on it.

There's another audit, a big one, down in Westlake on Monday, so I'll head down Sunday night or Monday morning.  If the weather is bad, and they are predicting rain, I'll go down Sunday night. The commute would be doable, to get to the site by 10am from here, but only if the weather is good.
Thursday 17 November 2016
Thursday - Not much to say.  Sitting around, not doing much...

I left a book out, so Book #57, actually read before Book #56, would be Ruins, by Orson Scott Card, second in the Pathfinder trilogy.

Wednesday 16 November 2016

Wednesday - Windy and cool.  As the weather people predicted.

I pulled the upstairs window a/c unit out, and blocked the downstairs swamp cooler, so the house is a lot less drafty.  The upduct was banging continually, and that stopped it, but the old unperforated hatch should be put back for the winter I guess.  The heater, set to 64F during the day, kicked on in early evening.

It's supposed to be down at or below freezing tonight.  Hopefully the homeless get the word and find themselves someplace safe and warm.

Not feeling too terrible, but not very energetic either.

Tried to work on the app, without much success.

Did some phone calls, set up some audits for CB this Friday.  I have some calls into a few other District clients, trying to coordinate some audits with them.

Old cats are still snarling and hissing at the new guy.  Budd is feeling more at home though, and chases them sometimes.  Other times everyone sits companionably, a few feet apart, no hassle's.

Tuesday  15 November 2016
Tuesday - Nice weather.

Things went OK at the dentist, a bit over an hour in the chair.

Tired afterwards though. My friend T drove me there and back, though I could have done it myself, no narcotics being in use.  I wasn't feeling too sharp though.

I did the ice pack thing, ten minutes on, ten minutes off, for six hours. It seems to help keep the swelling down.

Book #56, read while enduring the afternoon's forced idleness and sitting upright, was Visitors, by Orson Scott Card.  This was the third and final book in the Pathfinder series, and like the others, very well done.  Sort of pseudo YA I guess.

I think I mentioned that I had accidentally ordered it on audio CD, but this was the ebook downloaded from the library, via Amazon.

Monday 14 November 2016
Monday - Nice weather, though they are predicting cooler weather by the week's end.

The orthodontist called, again, and now I'm scheduled for the am on Tuesday. As with any dental visit, I feel a mix of fear and hope...

Incidentally, I may be a natural blonde...

There's an old joke about a brunette who goes to the doctor for a pain issue.  When he asks her where it hurts she says "Everywhere", and touches her nose with her finger "OW!", and her side "OW!" and her foot "OW!" and so on.  The doctor asks her if she's naturally a blonde, and she says "Yes, I dye my hair, but how did you know?". And he says: "Because its your finger that is broken".

The reader may remember me complaining recently that I couldn't finish "Boys in the Boat" on audio CD in the car, because the disks were bad.  They I had a copy of "Orville and Wilbur" on CD, but those were bad and skipping as well.  While commuting lately I was listening to "Visitors" on CD, and that started skipping and then failed altogether.

And finally a dim little refrigerator bulb came on inside my head....

Sunday  13 November  2016
Sunday - Warmish.

I feel a bit better, off and on.  The orthodontist's office called and offered me a Tuesday afternoon appointment, which I accepted. So no work early next week down in Ventura County.

I'm letting Budd roam free during the day - the other cats are keeping their distance, but he's been in the house now for over two weeks, everyone is going to have to come to terms...

But not at night.  The sudden outbursts of hissing and snarling every hour or two wake me up.  And Budd accepts being penned at night as normal.
