Saturday 4 December 2004

Saturday - rain  is predicted for Sunday, so I mowed the lawn using the bag and mulcher attachment. This did a final trim on the grass, and also got up 95% of the leaves. I filled the greenwaste and garbage cans, but now the leaves won't be moldering on the lawn all winter. It was sunny, and below 50F, so it was a nice couple hours working outside. I think that my side yard had collected the leaves from my upwind neighbors across the street to the west, curse them. On the other hand the front yard wasn't particularly "leafy", someone down the street to the east of me is probably raking them up and cursing me.

I also did a bit of shopping. Despite it being well into December the local mall wasn't all that busy. I picked up a new winter coat, and a couple of filters for my humidifiers from Sears. The old filter has basically turned to mold - I'll have to clean the entire humidifier and add a capful of bleach when I insert the new filter. Although a storm is predicted in the near future the Antelope Valley generally has a very low humidity level in winter - nose bleed low.

I was also going to get something at Best Buy, but their checkout procedure still hasn't changed: a line of twenty customers, two cashiers, and three people guarding the door against shoplifters. I can get a better price on line anyway.

Friday 3 December 2004

Friday - a friends son turned eleven, so there was a little birthday party for him. He got a lot of computer games and videos this year. He had a friend over for the party - they disappeared afterwards into his room with the games from which there soon  emerged the delighted sounds of various sorts of electronic carnage.

Speaking of which - what is with Andromeda on teevee? Obviously there has been a huge change in the plot line this season  - everyone is apparently in an alternate universe, which looks a lot like a leftover Mad Max set. And what about Enterprise and this Vulcans as bad guys plot line? Huh?

Thursday 2 December  2004

Thursday - it's odd, I thought I'd updated this. Oh well. Not a lot to say, just keeping busy working.

Wednesday 1 December 2004

Wednesday - still working. The basic coding is pretty much done, now comes the debugging part. Sigh.

Tuesday 30 November 2004
Tuesday - just working away.

Arguing with Blue Cross and the therapists about my medical bills from hand therapy. BC wants me to pay it all, I think they should cover it. Bah.

Monday 29 November 2004

Monday - back on the road, headed south. Traffic wasn't too bad, which given that it's just after Thanksgiving is surprising. You never can tell ahead of time with the I-5.

The dentist appointment for tomorrow is put off until next week. That's the message on the phone anyway. At one time I could check messages remotely, but that seems to have stopped working. I'll have to check the instructions.

Sunday 28 November 2004

Sunday - we watched the San Francisco FortyNiners and Miami Dolphins. The was possible the worst professional football game ever played. Two one and nine teams battling it out for the bottom of the league. The FortyNiners are now one and ten, the Dolphins two and nine.

The leak in the new pipes has virtually stopped, and we have a heat lamp under the sink to dry out the soaked particle wood.
