- Wow, rain, wind, all day. A nice little storm.
Book #19 was Citadel:
Troy Rising II.
This was the second in a series, I'll have to see if I can find the
first. Essentially an asteroid is hollowed out and used as a giant
fort, with missles and lasers, again various alien invaders. All on a
very large scale. Space opera, but fun.
Tuesday
- I started ripping some of my CD's to MP3's. Since I have the
originals this is completely legal. It takes about 10 minutes per CD,
ripped at 190Kb using Ubuntu 10.10 and Asunder. The dLink WUA-1340 USB
dongle works fine upstairs on the linux box, connecting to the router
with very little difficulty. There was a short power spike that messed
things up in late afternoon, and I had to shutdown the modem, router
and computer and bring them up again to reconnect, but I've seen
similar issues with Windows during that kind of event.
Speaking of which, rain predicted for tomorrow. Hard to believe, but
that's what they say.

- I didn't give Valentines Day a lot of thought. But some friends
showed up with cupcakes for me, so that was cool! Thaks S and K!!!
There is still a lot of cleaning up about the house to be done. One
item was to take about four boxes of stuff from my parents' place and
put them into a single large container. I found a lot of stuff, just
cleaning up, but it's a tough task to face. There were also a few items
from my grandfather to put away. It bothers me a bit that I have so
little from my mother, just a few Hummel's that I gave her, an old vase.
I also found a number of packages of photographs of my own, that I
should scan into the computer. It's hard to set a date on some of them
though (except that my hair was gray and present), so the dates might
be a bit arbitrary. There are even a couple of photo's of the cats as
kittens.
I did get a phone call from my northern California brother. He was
trying to work at the Martinez house and wanted to know if there was an
issue with the water valve. I told him that it was just really really
stiff. He and my Palmdale brother are remodeling the bathroom.

- taking it easy, had lunch with friends.
I've been enjoying Netflix over the Roku in the evenings. I'm on the
third season of Psych! right now. From it's original very lighthearted
and frothy beginning it's gotten a bit more serious and dark. Not
massively so, it's still mostly a comedy, but Shawn's issues with his
parents and his unwillingness to make a commitment in his life have
taken a bit more of the stage.
I'm stuck in the house mostly, getting fatter and fatter. But I have
done a bit more cleaning, making an assault on the computer room. There
is just so much junk in there that it's ridiculous. A lot can be
tossed, fortunately.
