Saturday 25 July 2015
Saturday - Warmish, but not terrible.

I did yard sales in the morning, picked up some minor things, mostly as gifts to a friends kids.

Lunch was at the Kabob House - we were mean and send a picture of our smiling faces at the table to the son away in college subsisting on dorm food.

I mentioned to Roger over lunch that I was interested in hiking Mt. Baden-Powell Sunday, to get a feel for the newish books on a real trail; and to check out and exercise my minor disabilities. I knew that he had some injuries too, but he was quite game to go, so tomorrow we're off! It's four miles and about 2700' elevation gain to the top at just under 10,000' feet, so it's a good workout.

My friend C sent some pictures of her family of grade school children atop a mountain in Yosemite and I'm feeling a bit challenged now.

Friday 24 July 2015
Friday - Warming up.

I updated the tiles for the app, and created new (English) audio to go with them (it's quite confusing when the audible, text and graphic prompts disagree!), then implemented the audio in the newer version. I want to get something to S so she can critique before I get too far down any wrong paths. About ten hours of grinding away.

Cats, they say, are the epitome of grace and class.

Thursday 23 July 2015

Thursday - Warming up.

Working away on the app. I discovered a bug, or at least and unexpected 'mode' that had to be addressed, so I worked on that and some other 'to-do' items most of the day.

It was warm, so I took my walk early, 7.4 miles, no issues with blisters or heel.

Wednesday 22 July 2015

Wednesday - Warming up.

I had the swamp cooler on for a few hours, but left it as just a fan overnight.

Not much going on. Working on the app, modified updated a couple of things - highlights around the 'bins' are now individual and turn/off individually, and fixed a 32-bit vs 64-bit integer issue that kept cropping up as a non-fatal error. I get annoyed at the slow pace sometimes, but really, one advance a day is actually pretty good progress, two is excellent.

I talked with S in the evening, she said she'd updated the artwork and had spent some serious time checking out other developer's web pages and Facebook sites to see what's out there, and getting ours all laid out.

I talked to Tim, and it looks like the contract is going out soon, this week. So, probably, a pre-con next week down in Ventura that I'll need to attend. There may be some contractual issues that slow things, but work should start in a couple of weeks.

I download the Specifications, and should look at them tomorrow...

Sunday 19 July 2015
Sunday - It was still overcast in the morning, with predictions of afternoon thunderstorms. Because it was also predicted to be warm, 85F, I spent time installing the mechanical a/c unit in the west window. It used to be in the east window, but that's blocked by the turtle tank now. Because the sizes were different it took several hours to create a secure install. Certainly a bad guy could break in, but it'd be easier just to break in through the wooden French doors.

Right after I finished we had a repeat of yesterdays thunderstorm, a real gully washer. Jimmy ran and hid under the bed, as did Suzy after a particularly bright and loud nearby strike. Riley ignored it all.

I wanted to work on the app, but the neighbors were being jerks. At 9am the guy across the street was blaring rock music so loud it could be heard inside my house with my doors and windows closed (rain, you know), as he wandered around shirtless, tattoo's displayed, playing pool in his garage.

In the afternoon it was Mariachi music from a block away, but just as loud.

So much for Sunday.

East Palmdale has arrived in West Lancaster.

Book #40 was Exo, by Steven Gould. This is a sequel to yesterday's Impulse, in which our teenaged girl figures out a way to use her teleportation ability to go into Earth orbit. She also outs herself and her parents as mutant teleporters, but things turn out well enough.
