Saturday 22  August  2020

Saturday - On the road.

Friday 21 August  2020

Friday - On the road.

Thursday 20 August 2020

Thursday - Hot and smoky.

Running around, doing various chores, packing.  It'll only be a day or two, so no big deal.

I had the RAM's oil changed and the tires rotated last week, so we're good to go there.  It'll be me, Aaron, and his son Paul, and an old freezer that we're to deliver to a friend of his in Yerington. We'll load the freezer tomorrow.

I have no real memory of Yerington.

I guess the smoke from the HUGE fires around the California coast are blowing east and directly over Reno, Carson City, and maybe even Yerington.

Wednesday 19 August 2020

Wednesday - Hot and smoky.  With lightning and thunder.

I had to unplug all the computers, because we had lightning strikes nearby.  Hopefully there won't be more fires started.  We had some pretty good showers on Saturday, but not the close strikes.

I did receive a phone call from AH, stating that he was going to go to Yerington, and if I wanted to drive my truck he'd pay for the gas up.  I had mentioned a while ago that I wanted to visit my brother in Carson City, so this works out.

We will probably head out on Friday morning.

GH came by and did a couple more hours of weeding, and we filled the standard garbage bin and the green bin, and the trash guy took it all.  Yay.

I added some rigid foam around the window a/c in the west bedroom (office) and replaced the old screen with Suntex.  It's about as insulated as it can get now.  It makes the room dark, which I don't like, but the little 5K BTU a/c can actually keep it at 70F, if it runs continuously.

Tuesday 18 August  2020

Tuesday - Hot and smoky.

Send off my slightly toned down replay to Agena Astro.

And of course the eyepiece showed up in the mail this evening...  The USPS hadn't returned it, they kept it for two weeks and then delivered it...  The incompetent and the crooked, what a combination.

GH came by and we filled AH's bin with weeds from my yard.  It's amazing how much has grown in the last six-seven months!

Monday 17 August 2020

Monday - Hot. And smoky.

My friend sent back my draft email to AA, basically truncated a bunch of it and added a bit about contacting the credit card vendor. I guess that's the adult way to do it, to be honest I'd rather just firebomb the warehouse, but that's probably excessive for $10-$20...

GH came by and did a couple of hours of work - from 8am to 10am, it's just too hot for weeding after that.

I made another Suntex screen, and put it on the master bedroom window.

Then I added some rigid foam insulation around the window a/c in the front room.

Sunday 16 August 2020

Sunday - Still hot.

Shopping with S.

She made a loaf of bread yesterday (too hot for me!) and gave me a few slices.  This was some sort of cool-yeast style bread, very tasty - I had it with some roast beef and cheese for lunch.

The fire continues.  Some structures lost.
