Saturday 1 February 2014
Saturday - Yard work day. I put off doing stuff during the week, because it's easy to avoid working on the app when doing that, but the weekend is free time!

I want to finish with pavers in the side yard, but before I do that I need to have a place to put excavated dirt. The plan is to build a little planter along the east wall, and put in roses to catch the mid-day and afternoon sun. But I need to get landscape blocks for that. And that means I need to move the giant pile of dirt in the pathway. Which I can put into the tomato planters. Which meant clearing them out, knocking down the dead plants, removing the (screwed in) cages, and setting the irrigation lines to one side. Which mean getting the wheelbarrow out, to get rid of the leafy debris and move the dirt. Which meant emptying the firewood out of the wheelbarrow. Which in turn....

Well, I'm sure you get the idea. A 'dependency chain' is what they call it in software engineering.

Anyway, by about 6pm I was done, and my back hurt. Iburprofen and a hot shower were calling....

Friday 31 January 2014
Friday - Not much to say. The weather is definitely cooling down.

I'm just working away on things, trying to treat the app thing like a real business. Indeed, it's almost been a year since we created the official partnership. Everyone has been busy, but I'm the long pole in the tent right now, not a comfortable position.

Book #5 was A Red Herring without Mustard (Flavia de Luce #3), by Alan Bradley. Excellent.

Thursday 30 January 2014

Thursday - Tried to do a long walk, but the gale force winds and occasional bits of rain sent me scurrying for home after only 3 miles or so. I realize that I don't have a windbreaker in the house - sweaters, jackets, etc, but no simple shells. They are all down on the boat I guess.

Other than that, worked on the app.

Wednesday 29 January 2014

Wednesday -  Kind of gray and overcast.

Working on the app all day. These things take time... I did get out and have a nice lunch with a friend, then back to the grind. We discussed in depth some of the extensions to the app that I need to implement. I'd been ignoring them until I got confident I could do the simple things, but it's time. Color Version 4.0 is going to be nearly what we want. I'm skipping a couple of things that I can go back and put in any time, but I hope it to be 90% functional, then we'll start inserting the graphics that we want.

Tuesday - Keeping busy.

Went for a nice walk, 5 miles, since the weather was so pleasant.  And, you know,  it's been a while since I had a "found CD" photo:

Monday - Working on the app. Trying to get back into the zone.

Tim emailed, mentioned that the whiskey measurements seemed off - 1.5mL is about an eyedropper. So, yeah, I should have used deci-Liters, not mil-liters. Heh. But zero is zero, in any measurement system.

I saw this on Tumblr, the USS Dahlgren in the foreground,
with UNREP of another Farragut class taking place in the distance - during a gale!

Sunday 26 January 2014
Sunday - Warm and sunny.

The pro bowl was on, but I didn't get around to watching. It's usually pretty much of a yawner, and although they promised to make it more interesting this year, it seems unlikely.

Antelope or Gazelle?
Photo Notes: Antelope, Gazelle, Wildebeest? Something tasty to big cats anyway....
