Saturday 5 June  2021

Saturday - Hot.

The new little window a/c works OK, and is reasonably quiet,  but it isn't as quite as the Haier. Bah. And the ECO mode is annoying, it turns the whole thing off and on at 3m intervals, waking me up from sleep.

I texted S that she needs two new trailer tires: "Tires not holding air. Spare is an emergency donut. You NEED one new one, I strongly suggest 2 new, they are about $50 a tire, and if if you sell "as is" the families of the school bus children killed in the wreck on the freeway are going to sue you. Such a hassle."

I suggested the Walmart Trailer King brand - as good as any.

Friday 4 June 2021

Friday -Hot.

Went by Lowe's to pick up more landscape blocks...and they were out.  This is becoming a regular thing, so I always have a list of backup things I need to buy, so as not to waste a trip. I could go down to the Palmdale store, but it's a pain dealing with the congestion at 10th and P.

Hot and tired and annoyed by the time I got back.

Thursday 3 June 2021

Thursday -Still hot.

I give the tree's 2 gallons in the morning, then wet the leaves a bit during the day.  Tree's can died from transpiration losses here in the high desert.  These were locally raised, so they are hardier than stuff raised in moist states a sea level, but the transplant is a shock.

Wednesday 2 June 2021

Wednesday -Hot.

I picked up another little a/c unit - this is a GE that appears to be an exact clone of the Haier (GE owns Haier), but $70 less.  I'll put it in the master bedroom window, for those scorching days later in the year.  I'm tempted to just leave it on the floor, since it isn't all that hot right now, but I guess I need to try it out.

Tuesday 1 June  2021

Tuesday - Hot again.

Got up late - it was a long hot day yesterday.

S had dropped off some Rice Krispy treats, I ate them all in a day...  They were very good - often you can't taste the Rice Krispies for the sugar and marshmallow, but with these you could.

I did go by the store and pick up some Sevin.  For myself, and a bottle for S, which I dropped off on their porch.

Reading up on it in the evening I discovered that it kills bee's, which is a downer.  That may explain why I don't get much fruit! I see wasp's and moth's out here, but few bee's.

Monday 31 May 2021

Monday - Hot.

Glen came by and we started stripping that tarp. His Dad had tied it on, back when the boat wasn't under cover, and he'd done a very very thorough job. Eventually I crawled under it, dust and spiders and cat pee not withstanding, and cut all the lines.

As we were pulling it off S drove up, so the timing worked well.

She was able to clamber around and take as many pictures as she wanted.  The ones from the parade's are the one's that will sell the beast, but it's best to let people know up front as to what it looks like now.  It isn't bad, just a bit worn and neglected.

Sunday 30 May 2021

Sunday - Shopping in the morning with S.

Did the usual chores, and some more cleaning up around the pirate ship.  The tire is flat again - it's a complete loss, looks like the sidewall blew out.  And it's actually the newest of the two tires, twelve years old, the other dates to 2001!  I think they'll need replacing.

S says tomorrow for the photo shoot.  I'll see if I can get one of the neighbors to help get that tarp off - otherwise it's S and I doing that.
