Saturday 2 November  2019

Saturday - Decent weather.

The neighbor boys came over and we put a coat of good tan paint on the wall, it looks good. I should have prepped the gables, but so it goes.

Friday 1 November  2019

Friday - Another nice day here. A bit of wind.

The H boys can come by tomorrow, so I'll let them paint.  My hands are really aching, but a lot is getting done.

Since the weather remains good I'll probably start on the west side. I never imagined the good weather would last this long, but as long as it does I can keep working.

Until my hands give out.

Thursday31 October 2019

Thursday - A nice day, not too windy.

I primed the south side finally.

Book #35 would be With the Lightnings, by David Drake.  This is the first in a series, free from Baen.  I was at the library and picked up a couple of the books in the series, but they didn't have the first book. The series was designed as a deliberate analogy to the Aubrey/Maturin series.  It's not nearly as good, but still quite enjoyable.

Wednesday 30 October 2019

Wednesday -A bit windy.

I spent some time trying to see if I could find the RAM mirror online.  After some hours of research I didn't find anything that really seemed like it was sure to fit - a number of the pieces that the sellers claimed would fit were obviously incorrect, and I had my doubts about many of the others.  There were a few aftermarket vendors, with mixed reviews as to their worth. Bah.

Tuesday 29 October  2019

Tuesday - Decent weather.

I started priming the worst spots, the lower strakes and the patches where the paint is completely gone.  Then I'll prime it all again, to make for a smoother wall, then we'll paint.

The clapboards look much better, but it does make the poor condition of the trim stand out. Bah.

Monday 28 October 2019

Monday - More nice weather, doing the final bits on the south wall.

I hadn't started the generator in a while, so I hooked it up to a tank and it started on the third pull, and ran flawlessly for a couple of hours.

Sunday 27 October 2019

Sunday - Shopping in the morning. Daylight savings vegan last night.

Even more work on the south wall, patching, cleaning, scraping, prior to priming.

Starting the wire brushing of south wall.
To give an idea of the effort involved, here is
the south wall, with wire brushing just begun.
