Saturday 12  January  2019
Saturday - Rain still. Working away on this and that, mostly cleaning.

I have some minor gum surgery next week, trying to get ahead of household tasks.

I managed a small flood of the front room when I overflowed the bucket when siphoning out the water from the turtle tank.  It wasn't too bad, but it did soak a 3x5 throw rug. Since it's cold and nasty out I hung the one soaked rug on a 2x4 in the garage, with some fans blowing on it.

I'd mopped the kitchen floor earlier, and the hallway, so my back was a bit sore after all of this.

Friday 11 January 2019
Friday - Rain, off and on.

I managed to catch a glimpse of the Falcon launch from Vandenberg in the morning.  We had a cloud deck here, but there was a tiny gap at the west, and we could see the booster for two or three seconds as it rose above the hills. Neat.

My pellet stove died - looks like the exhaust fan or controller.  It's quite old, dating to the early 90's.   I'm kind of kicking myself for not renewing the homeowner's insurance a couple of weeks ago, but after a year of no problems was feeling confident about things...

One more expense.

Thursday 10 January 2019
Thursday - Warm, but with a cool wind.

S says the laptop repair only works if she's right next to the WiFi base station, otherwise there's no signal.  Other devices work fine, so she knows it's the new Dell laptop.

I had scheduled a repair to the Explorer at Scott's, but had to cancel, as the battery was completely shot - wouldn't hold a charge at all.  I then discovered that AAA apparently thought I was delinquent (I'd paid in full in November of last year.), so I couldn't get a free tow.  It's probably fifteen or twenty miles, not something that I want, or should have to, pay out of pocket.

Thinking about a new or at least new-to-me car.

Wednesday 9 January 2019

Wednesday - Reasonable weather.

S is still having problems with her brand new Dell, and Dell finally sent a technician out, who replaced some part.  It *seems* to be working better.

Tuesday  8 January 2019
Tuesday - A coolish day.

I let the pellet stove run, just to keep the house at 60F+, almost the entire day.

Did a bit of cleaning in the morning, worked on various computer things in the afternoon.

Monday 7 January 2019
Monday - A typical winters day, reaching into the low 50s.

I did some cleaning and vacuuming.  This took a while longer than I'd planned: my vacuum cleaner brush bearings seized up and I finished the front room on hands and knees, using the 1 gallon garage shop vacuum.

I'll have to get another, this is the third or fourth roller for this Bissell unit.  So, no more Bissells or Red Devils.  Maybe another Hoover.

Fortunately I'd cleaned the filter on the shop vacuum this weekend, I often use it for cleaning the pellet stove, and it was pretty clogged up, with all the use the stoves been getting.

It was actually clear in the morning, but the Vandenberg rocket launches have been canceled for some reason, new time "TBD".

Sunday 6 January 2019
Sunday - Quiet. Rain.

Mostly just watched the wildcard games with my friends.

I did take some time in the morning to do some shredding of documents, stuff with my name and personal info on it that isn't needed any more.  Starting on the tax stuff.  I think I'll try TurboTax this year.

There was a Delta IV launch, and a Falcon 9 launch, both scheduled for a launch this week from Vandenberg AFB, but both have been canceled.
