Saturday 11 May  2019
Saturday - Warm, but not terrible. We actually had rain overnight, and light rain during the morning.

I had to forcibly bring the dogs in - they are indifferent to the light rain (or possibly just not smart enough to come in out of the rain!) but I didn't want my neighbors reporting me for animal abuse or anything.

Went to Mahli's for lunch, very tasty.

Friday 10 May 2019
Friday - Warm again.

The dogs are fine - in fact they are so quiet that I continually go and check on them, in contradiction to their home in town, where they bark so much that they always need the barker breakers.

Three chihuahua's are a lot easier to deal with than the former set of five - the bother seems to scale more or less quadratically with the number of canines.

Rain overnight.

Thursday 9 May 2019
Thursday - Warm, into the mid-80's.

Since R&S are going out of town for a few days I've been cleaning up the back yard, and today I put up a small awning.

It's a triangular store-bought sun-cloth item, of about 70SF, which is the same SF as the rectangular canvas awning I build last year, and that blew apart in the winds.  It was a lot easier to put up, just a couple of hooks into rafters (through the eaves) and a post.   It doesn't give as much shade as the rectangular unit, but it isn't supposed to be particularly hot.

S showed up in the afternoon with the dogs, and they happily set about patrolling the area. I was a bit concerned about the bumper crop of stickers, but they didn't seem to mind.

The other project back there was to reinforce the fencing about the planter - I'd scavenged the support rails for another project, and had to go get some 2x2's in town.  The dogs are diggers and would destroy my tomato plants, given the option...

Wednesday 8 May 2019
Wednesday - A pleasant morning, with a walk of about a mile and a quarter.

The stupid Apple authentication issue is fixed, things can now proceed again.  Annoying.

Working away on various projects, not much to say there. Sadly the neighbor's dog is outside barking again.

I need to do a bit of clean up in the back yard, prepping for the dogs.

Tuesday 7 May  2019
Tuesday - Cool and calm in the morning.

It was calm enough to take a short walk - about a mile - which was fine, as the neighbor didn't want to come, and my tummy was delicate enough that I didn't want to get too far from home.

There are still a lot of butterflies about.

The wind picked up and was howling in the afternoon and evening, probably in the 30mph range. I saw probably because the two sites I normally use were showing winds in the 5-10mph range, which was clearly ludicrous. And for some reason the wind-speed graphic is no longer showing on the tv screen saver, despite it still being set to do that.

I did a bunch of bills and correspondence, took care of some laundry, did a bit of cleaning around the house.

I just didn't have the energy to deal with the nonsensical Apple Two-Factor Authorization issue.  I have thought about it, and think I know what's happening, but it's a hassle to deal with.

S wants to drop off dogs for a few days on Thursday night, but I'm a bit concerned about burrs, stickers and foxtails.  My worries about having poisoned yard soil seem to have been pointless: I've quite the bumper crop of rapidly drying-out weeds. I need to plant some of my tomato plants.

And, I might add, there are another half dozen tumbleweeds against the western chain link fence, after all these high winds.  They all blow in from other peoples property, upwind.

Monday 6 May 2019
Monday - Very windy. I couldn't walk, and I didn't particularly want to.

Still a bit under the weather, but feeling better.

Book #20 was The Death Cure, by James Dashner. This actually finishes the series, the correct timeline order being:
  1. The Kill Order
  2. The Fever Cure
  3. The Maze Runner
  4. The Scorch Trials
  5. The Death Cure
I don't think I'll bother with The Kill Order, the series was kind of sad and disappointing overall.

Sunday 5 May 2019
Sunday - Pleasant Sunday weather.

A bit warm and windy in the afternoon.

I was still feeling unwell, but I did some shopping in the morning.

Book #19 was The Fever Cure, by James Dashner.  Essentially this is the prequel to The Maze Runner. Meh.
