Saturday 29 June  2019
Saturday - Warm.

I did a couple more test drives of trucks, this time the Ford Ranger, Ford F-150, and the Nissan Frontier.  AH came along this time.

If I were to rank the vehicles I think it would be:
  1. F-150
  2. Ridgeline
  3. Tacoma
  4. Ranger
  5. Frontier
I hadn't actually meant to test drive the F-150, but there was one right next to the Ranger, so... The F-150 is really in a class by itself, though Aaron is dubious about the V-6 engine with it's integral water pump.  With twin turbo chargers it really scrams, but when the water pump goes you lose your entire engine...  They do make a V8 for the F-150, the "Coyote", which is a derivative of the old "Triton", and I asked the salesman to send me a quote on that.

The Ranger was a lot like the Tacoma, but with somewhat nicer seats.

The Frontier would actually do fine - except that on occasional there is some horrible issue (poor factory quality control) and both the dealers and corporate are apparently terrible at making things right, even for vehicles well within their warranty.

Received a text from S, they didn't leave for the coast until after the afternoon, arrived around 7pm.  Seems like a waste of good beach time.

Friday 28 June 2019
Friday - Warm.

I talked to Dave a bit.  He has an F-150 V8, 4WD, that he bought used from his brother, and likes it quite a bit.

Thursday 27 June 2019
Thursday - Warm.

I policed the back yard, getting all the dog damage-able stuff put away, picking up various bits of litter, moving the kennel back against the house, and so on.  It's surprising what can fill up a yard in a few months of neglect...

S dropped off the dogs in the late afternoon.  They seem happy enough, familiar with the drill at this place now I guess.

Wednesday 26 June 2019
Wednesday - Warm.

Went into town and did a few test drives, the Honda Ridgeline Sport AWD, and the RTL.  It's very nice, but the dealership was a little sneaky, obviously trying to get out of giving a price that TrueCar could hold them too.  The prices that they did quote seemed very high to me. Well, it's just a drive and I don't really care right now, but it's something to keep in mind come buying time.

We also drove the Toyota Tacoma, which is much more "truckish".  It also was a bit cramped and rough riding.  Lots of driver assist stuff.

After I bought S lunch, took her to an allergists visit, and went home and crashed.  My energy level is not what it was.

Tuesday 25 June  2019
Tuesday - Warm.

With the help of the neighbor's son, T, the garage east wall is now painted.  This is a light tan color, and it was very difficult to see "holidays" before the paint dried.  He used the 4" brush and I came along after with a 1.5" brush touching things up.  The roughness of the clapboards also makes it hard to get everything, quickly.

It looked pretty good afterwards.

My hands are completely shot - no working with them for a week or two I guess.

Monday 24 June 2019
Monday - Warm, almost hot.

I did run the generator again, after changing the oil. This time for another hour, with a 500W load - a halogen work lamp I have around.  You could hear the change in RPM for a minute as it absorbed the load.  I think that halogen's have a (very quick) high draw spike, but I'm not sure.

I also have a little space heater, which I think is 800/1600W, I'll have to check.  These are resistive loads, without any phase issues.

Sunday 23 June 2019
Sunday - Warm again.

My friends brought me a pound of coffee from Hawaii, having visited a coffee bean plantation "Kauai Coffee" there.  It's very smooth and tasty!

I've been wanting to start the generator again, but not on a weekend or Sunday.
