Saturday 7 October  2017
Saturday - OTR. A beautiful warm - but not hot, day.  No wind, no mosquito's (we were next to a creek). Just about perfect for a wedding.

Not being part of the official wedding party we just hung out in the morning, kibitzing the official wedding photo's shoot from a cool vantage while sipping cold drinks in shorts and sandals:

shooting the wedding shoot
Our view of the wedding shoot.  A beautiful location.

The wedding was in the afternoon at the Aventine Glen Ellen.  It went off very well, the grooms sister officiating, the mothers of the bride and groom each gave a nice and amusing speech during the dinner, with some dancing (and open bar) afterwards. I don't dance myself, but it's always interesting to watch - women, in particular, seem to enjoy it so very much.  Odd.

The bridal party asked that people not use their own cell phone's and camera's during the event, as there were two photographers and a videographer present, and we'll all be getting some professional imagery later, I think.  I'll post some when I get them.

Friday 6 October 2017
Friday - OTR.  Up to Glen Ellen with T&D. They rented a Nissan Rogue SUV, and it was pretty nice.  Automotive technology has improved: it's definitely a step up from my 1998 Explorer: fuel-economy, noise, and comfort-wise!

It's a nice quaint old hotel, the 'Olea', that we were staying at, along with the bridal party.  It was amidst the oaks on a hillside.  The staff and everyone seem very friendly.

We arrived just around dinner time, dressed casually, then went to a little welcome dinner over at the Jack London Lodge nearby, which was nice.

Thursday - Dogs aren't too noisy.  Found some clothes that will, just barely, fit. All packed for tomorrow.

My friend C and her kids are delighted to have a chance to play with the cats and dogs again!

I'm a bit behind I guess, four books short of the book-a-week number. I'm not sure why, but I haven't felt much like reading - I actually returned the last Destroyermen book to the library without reading it.

Wednesday 4 October 2017

Wednesday - Nice weather, warm during the day, cool at night.

I've been going through my closet, looking for suitable clothes that fit.  This is harder than it seems - the pile of rather too-small garments is rather too-large, one might say.  But I haven't worn a size 34 waist in at least fifteen years, so it's probably time to do a bit of purging.

S dropped off the dogs before she and R left, with some instructions for their feeding.  Poor Goldie passed away, Marco went back to her mom, so there are only three.  Of which two are escape artists.

The dogs can't get to the side yard, and I'll put cat food out there, as will C, but I suspect Zeno will make himself scarce.

Tuesday 3 October 2017
Tuesday - Fiddling around in the back yard.  I munged up the back a while ago, and keep re-aggravating it, so heavy duty construction is not the way I want to go.  But I think I've figured out a pretty dog-proof barrier for the side yard, just using some old patio doors and fencing, held together by spring clips.

Also digging holes and setting traps for the gophers in the front yard.

Monday  2 October  2017
Monday - Running around, doing various things.  Trying to get ready for the trip myself. They are heading up mid-week, I'm heading up Friday morning with some fiends.  The Wedding is Saturday.

Sunday 1 October 2017
Sunday - Happy Birthday Mom!

Not much going on.  Did a bit of mowing.  I need to dog-proof the back yard, as my friends are leaving their dogs here next week as they go off to their daughters wedding. One of the dogs is quite the climber, and the other is quite the digger.
